Kaspa in Accumulation: An Honest Assessment of Where We Are

Share

Some scattered thoughts about the coin.

I have a strong feeling that most people who wanted to exit Kaspa have already done so. Here’s why:

Smart contracts - released in a rather specific/limited form and met with a fair amount of skepticism
The Binance listing story is either over or clearly postponed until better times
No announcements of new ASIC models
The popular kas.fyi project has shut down

And despite all this, the price is more or less holding within a certain range, after bouncing off the lows of October 10–11, and it’s been doing better than many other coins.

Now to the positives:

  • The number of public nodes is growing and has exceeded 1,000 (see KaspaGuru on X)
  • Wallet #1 keeps accumulating coins, almost in larger quantities than are being mined (see KaspaReport on X)
  • Kaspa keeps getting added to more wallets and listed on more exchanges. Most recently - a listing on HTX
  • The number of holders who haven’t moved their coins for a year or more is growing. These holders simply believe in Kaspa and don’t want to sell at current levels (see DailyKaspa on X)
  • Yonatan Sompolinsky has started thinking seriously about marketing (which, in the opinion of many, is exactly what Kaspa critically lacks)
  • Michael Sutton writes about the huge dissonance between how well the dev department is doing and how part of the community feels (see his post on X)
  • Even without strict deadlines, development continues and is accelerating. Work is ongoing on the revolutionary vProgs and DagKnight (
    see Michael Sutton on X)

My personal conclusions and thoughts:

  • I consider Kaspa’s current market cap of around $1B extremely low compared to the absurd valuations of some meme coins and empty-shell companies on the stock market. Time will fix this. Their time is passing; Kaspa’s time is ahead.
  • The hype around the coin has gradually died down. For those expecting instant x’s in a matter of hours, there’s nothing for you here right now.
  • I’m really looking forward to vProgs. This deserves a separate post (maybe more than one). I’ll just say this here: when and if they are implemented, it could become one of the new industry standards.
  • With the currently relatively low trading volumes, the price can be “anything,” and I don’t worry too much about that. As usual, if it gets cheap - I’ll accumulate more.
  • The main thing is that the community is growing, the number of holders, developers and projects is growing, the coin and the ecosystem are alive and steadily moving forward.
  • Even in its current state, Kaspa is a gem.

On the price:

  • The hype is gone; now it’s just slow accumulation. I think this phase can last up to a year in the $0.03–$0.07 range.
  • If you look at how much Bitcoin dropped from its first cycle high, then with a comparable percentage drop for Kaspa, we could theoretically see $0.015. A conditional scenario: global financial crisis/war, Bitcoin in a bear cycle around $35 - 40k. This is just one possible path. In any case, right now I’m more focused on accumulating USDT.
  • However, let’s hope for the better: QE, further rate cuts, crises being overcome, rapid rollout of new tech and growing real-world usage of Kaspa - that’s an absolutely realistic scenario. In that case everything looks much more optimistic, and we eventually get the strong growth we’re waiting for.
